What is Flash Arcade?
At a basic level, Flash Arcade is a cool site where people can come and play some fun games. But in reality, Flash Arcade is more of a gaming community, where people can play games, meet new people with similar interests, compete for awards, and more!
I want to compete for awards and all that other stuff. How do I do it?
In order to use any of the advanced and FUN aspects of Flash Arcade, you need to be a member. Don’t worry, membership is free, you only need to sign up for it. Click where it says SIGN UP near the top of the screen. After answering a few questions and clicking REGISTER, we will send you an email to verify your identity. Click on the link in that email to confirm your account and PRESTO, you are now a member.
I’m a member, now what?
Now that you’re a member, you’re going to need to log in to your account whenever you visit the website. To do this, click the LOGIN button near the top of the screen (it is next to the SIGNUP button). Type in your username and your password and click LOGIN. (Hint: If you click the checkbox ‘Remember Me’, then you won’t need to log in each time you visit the website.
How do I see my profile?
In the top bar where the SIGNUP and LOGIN button usually are, you will see a LOGOUT button. Just to the left of the button, you will see the text “Hi Xxxxxx” (where Xxxxxx is your username). Your username is a link. Clicking the link on your username will show you your profile page.
How do I edit my profile?
When looking at your profile page, there is a link that says “Edit profile” right under the text that says “Member Since xx/xx/xxxx”. Click on Edit profile and you will be taken to a screen where you can change your Name, Password, Avatar, and About Me description. If you do NOT see the “Edit profile” link, then you are either not logged in, or looking at the wrong profile.
What is Rank and how is my Rank calculated?
By being an active participant in the Flash Arcade community, you can earn both Community and Game points. Your rank is a sum of your Community points and your Game points
What are Community Points?
Community points are points awarded to you for meeting certain criteria in the community. The following are ways for your to earn Community points:
- Playing a new game - 1 point
- Posting a comment - 2 points
- Rating a game - 2 points
- Thanking a user for a Tip or Walkthrough - 1 point
- Writing a tip - 3 points
- Writing a walkthrough - 5 points
- Getting a "thanks" from another user - 10 points
What are Game points?
Game points are awarded to you for certain game-related actions on the site:
- Playing a game - 1 point
- Playing the same game more than 50 times - 10 points
- Playing the same game more than 100 times - 30 points
What are those awards in my Profile and how do I get them?
Awards are given if you perform certain actions that result in improving website's community or helping others. Awards are granted periodically and assigned for the following actions:
- Commenting on games
- Rating games
- Writing walkthroughs
- Visiting Flash Arcade and playing every day for 30 days
What else can I do?
Lots! For starters, you are able to VOTE on games to express how much you like (or dislike) them. You can also mark games as “Favorites”, so you can come back and play them often. You are also able to leave comments about a game, leave a tip about a game, or even write a whole walkthrough on a game. You can visit other users profiles and “follow them” (this makes them a friend so you can visit their page from your own profile), leave comments, see their favorite games, see their points and more.
